ManuCript combines a desktop writing editor with on-device AI so thesis chapters, papers, and long-form drafts get help without leaving your laptop. Below is what ships for early-access users.
Assistance runs on your machine. Manuscript body text is not uploaded for cloud inference by default. Entitlement checks do not receive draft content. If you write unpublished research, this is the core reason ManuCript exists — see also private local AI writing.
Suggested changes appear for you to accept, reject, or refine. Nothing silently rewrites your argument. You stay the author of record — explained further in review edits before you apply.
Keep a personal source list beside the chapters they support. Place numbered citations as you write and refresh the references list when the manuscript changes — without pasting into a separate cloud tool.
Headings, a living table of contents, and flexible page layouts (including multi-column sections) so dissertations and papers stay navigable without exporting mid-draft.
Get on-device guidance on passages that may need a closer look. You revise carefully and approve every change yourself — guidance for better authorship, not a cloud originality upload. Read integrity and similarity.
